Information for Counselors

The Southwest Iowa Educational Foundation is a non-profit, 501-C3 corporation founded in 1984 for the purpose of administering scholarships for contributing individuals, businesses, and organizations. However, we need your assistance in promoting these scholarship opportunities to your students. We also ask that you assist us with the collection of completed Application Packets.

Application Packet

Each applicant must complete a single Application Packet, which will be used for consideration of all scholarships that are indicated on the List of Scholarships.

Each Application Packet must include the following:

• List of Scholarships Form

• High School Transcript

• Completed Scholarship Application

• Two (2) Recommendation Forms

Scholarship Criteria

The Criteria for each scholarship is available for review. Please note that some of them require additional information, including essays and additional recommendations.

Recommendation Forms

Instead of asking for countless letters of recommendation, we would like to have each applicant supply us with two completed Recommendation Forms, which need to be sealed in separate envelopes with the student's name on each envelope.

Scholarship Submission

Counselors or applicants should mail or deliver all applications packets, with transcripts and support materials attached, in one package so that the Foundation physically receives them on or before March 31 each year. Application packets received after this date, regardless of post mark or delivery date, will not be considered.

Award Notification

Scholarships will be awarded and candidates notifed by April 30 of each year. Notification will be sent via letter. Only successful candidates will be notified. Scholarship recipients, as well as their families and counselors, will be invited to attend a Scholarship Awards Reception and Coffee in May of each year, whereby all Scholarship Award donors, recipients, and their counselors will be recognized.

This year's Scholarship Award Reception and Coffee is scheduled for May 4, 2011 7:30 A.M at the New Horizon Presbyterian Church in Council Bluffs, Iowa.
